Printing Standards Survey

This site is for printers who are interested in printing standardization and want to participate in a survey.

The adoption of printing standards, e.g., SWOP, GRACoL, and ISO 12647, has enabled printing process control and color management in the graphic arts industry. Print buyers are demanding printers to have their printing processes certified in order to become preferred suppliers. There are doubts if printers have widely adopted these standards in their daily production. The survey is designed to answer the question by means of a survey and press sheet analyses. The findings will benefit all stakeholders including photographers, designers, publishers, printers, and print buyers.

PSA is a printing standards audit and process certification services currently under development at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Its purpose is to meet printer’s process certification needs. The first step of the development process is to conduct an industry-wide survey. The purpose of the survey is to find out the awareness of international printing standards as well as the conformance ability among printers worldwide. There is no geographic restriction as to who is eligible to participate. Initially, two international printing standards (Fogra39 and GRACoL 2006) will be offered as aim points.

The survey is consisted of a registration, questionnaire, test form download, and a free printing check-up.

To participate in the survey and benefit from the free printing conformance clinic, participants must register to gain access to a members area, from where they can take the survey and download the Test Form.

A detailed description of the procedure and important deadlines are avalible here or by clicking at "Procedure" in the menu to the left.

Individual data will not be shared. Only the statistical summary will be disseminated in publication and conference presentations.
